I just picked up a super clean '97 GT with a blown n/a 3.8, for cheap.

after looking for a drop-in N/A engine, I stumbled across a '98 GTP that had been rolled, with only 90k miles on it. I wound up buying the complete car last night for 400 bucks. Has a freshly rebuilt M90 charger with the 3.4" pulley too!

After spending a couple hrs on this awesome forum, I have a pretty good handle on the differences between the L36 and the L67.

My plan is to pull the engine/trans/pcm out of the '98 GTP and drop it in the '97 GT.

From what I read here, the wiring harness is actually the same, so I should be able to just plug the GTP's pcm into the GT's harness and away we go.

I'd love to hear from you guys!

And, incidentally, I'll be parting out the rest of the GTP, so if you guys need any parts let me know. its black leather, very nice. No frame damage, but not one straight body panel on it.

I'd personally want to see if those l67 pistons are chipped.

If that car had headers or a PLOG I wouldn't be so concerned, but you don't mention it.

Another thing, if you do take the engine out of it, take the differential, passengers side drive axle in addition to the tranny.

I concur about the trans, I plan on pulling the GTP trans. I hear it has a little beefier diff anyway.

I dont see headers on the GTP. I am not sure what a PLOG is, But i read here that the 3.4" pulley is a bit of a bad idea on a stock engine.

Supposedly, the charger has only been on the car for 5k miles, doesnt look like its been driven hard either.

Make sure none of the pistons are chipped and put some flow mods on it.

    thats a good idea.

Im also going to put a new head gasket on it, and im going to check the rod/main bearings as well. it makes me a little nervous when a rig gets rolled, that engine running while upside down...
