The main question is, Do you want to get a few mods and maybe gain 20-30 HP?

Do you want to top swap and gain 40-80?

Or do you want to go turbo and be able to run 400+ HP?

All that comes down to is money and what sort of car you like driving.

    CAI, flipped motor mounts, tune.

    Start with those,

Then try downpipe, HV3, ER rockers.

    And a PLOG.

After that, thats about all you can really do with a GT unless you go with a cam or a head/cam combo.

You'd be better off top swapping if you wanted/can afford to do heads and a cam.

I'd say go downpipe before CAI/FWI. You will be gratefull to get rid of the U-Bend. Loosen up the exhaust befoe you push more air through it.

Ideally, you should do all those mods at once.

Take the dog bone mounts off. Then where they mount to the body there is a rubber bushing. Tighten just the bolt in the bushing and use to wrenches to spin it inside the metal mount. You can use some lube to make it move easier.

^^I was gonna say...first mod should be a 4T65E...with an HD Diff...that thing will take a crap after the first few 3rd to 1st downshifts. Vacuum powered junk '97 SE/GT trans FTMFL

On a side note...if you don't know a lot about motors...don't mod a car...but thats just me...I went about helping people and learning before I got my car

well then to put it in your language, that more power is going to toast your transmission. so either you replace the transmission now or do it later shortly after you start modifying it.
