Who here just has a k&n filter mounted basically right on the tb? I want to get a different intake goin and I remember a thread a while back where I believe bio or blue or someone was talking about how they just suck air straight from the engine bay. Thats not gonna hurt anything on a stock l36...or is it?

    Nothing like an old pic

Its not gonna hurt anything, at your mod level though, you won't see a real benefit.

Yeah, I'm not expecting anything drastic. I'm just wanting to put a different intake on and just wanted it to be quick and easy. Thanks guys.

throwing a filter on the TB will give you a better throttle response but no extra horses really.

    Its worth it.

Even opening up your stock air box will help with the throttle response

I had one of these on my 2000 GT and it was fine, even in the middle of the summer, I never heat soaked it. It is louder though.

Meh...put some 4" PVC pipe on it and get it as close to the fender as possible...GT's are unpowered as it is...you don't want to makeit any slower.

If you wanna get some decent results without worrying about your motor dude, your better off just getting the kn stock replacement, your stock air intake is designed to suck cold air from outside the engine bay anyway. what i did on top of that was i went and took some chromed metal tubing and used my stock airbox to free up any kind of resriction the rubber hose was doin.

do an fwi. s/c cars running meth or intercooled run hai's and open cones because they dont need a cold air intake anymore so its done for high flow. without a setup like that try to get the coldest air possible

true true. i have personally tried both, and i definitely prefer the foot of pvc pipe and the filter in the fender as much as possible. (do i dare post yet ANOTHER pic of my insanely easy intake)

Is having the intake in the fenderwell really going to make that much of a difference? I really don't want to have to remove the whole front bumper and cut stuff out. I might just do like blue said and run some pvc as close to the fender as I can get it. Explain to me if this would be a problem.

Getting close to the fender will work id get it away from the tb a bit just due to the crossover heat I dont know how much of a dif it will really make but thats just my thought

haha yeah joe, I'm pretty sure they mean 7" long and 4" at the base haha. That would be a monstrous air filter if it had a 7" inlet haha.
