Thread: L67 injectors on L36

Does anyone know if L67 injectors are a easy swap onto a L36. The SS M90 kit is in my future and I would rather go with L67 injectors if I don't have to splice my factory wiring harness. I have a 2004 L36. This "Bosch" connector, "EV1/EV6" mess, and whatever the other kind is confuses me. I don't remember what the connector looks like from when I did my gaskets... unfortunately.

Any help is appreciated.

You may just need the adapters depending on which injector you have currently. THen of course update the PCM to reflect the change.

Which injector do you have?

I have researched this because I want to eventually put L67 injectors on my 2004 LeSabre.

Up to 2003, L36 and L67 = EV1 injectors (easy swap; no splice or adapter needed)
2004+ s/c apps = EV6 injectors
2004+ L36 = Multec2 injectors

No one makes a Multec2 to EV1 adapter. I also could not find a Multec2 pigtail to make my own adapters (although I'm not done looking).

Your only option at this time that I know of is to splice some EV1 pigtails onto your injector wires. You will have to have your PCM programmed for the different injectors, of course.

EDIT: nice pic above. Checking Rock Auto, it is possible that a 2004 Impala L36 came with EV1 injectors...maybe early in the year? (see pic above). If your injectors look like the EV1's above, you're golden. Otherwise, splicing it may have to be.

I looked through my how-to pics and managed to blow it up enough to pick it out of the line up above. It is the middle one "Multitech".

I don't know how early it would have to be to make that theory true. My Imp was built in October 2003 and has a hybrid L36/L26 (like all 2004-2005 Series IIs). That means I have the following.

Series III heads
Series III block
Series III valving
Series III bottom end (although in 2004 it was nearly identical to the Series II for the N/A version; 2005 received stronger rods on the L26 and thus hybrid L36s)

I may scrap the whole SS M90 kit. I wanted to go F/I but I dunno anymore. Splicing all of my fuel injectors doesn't seem fun. Are there no Multitec injectors that are higher flow?? ZZP says stock L36 injectors max about 300 crank HP and I'll be over that with all the mods and a SC...

It's just some simple soldering. Take your time and make sure you splice the positive to positive ad negative to negative. Then shrink tube each wire.

Get pigtails or adapters, whatever you can find cheapest. All you need is a pigtail but sometimes you can find adapters for cheaper. Ebay is your friend on this one.

Okay, . Here's adapters on ZZP's site that they say go from Multec2 to the "Bosch" style. Is that all I'd need??

Looks like it. If you wanna have adapters, I would rather have mine soldered to the harness. Less crap under the hood too.

Thats a pretty big mislabel. I would call ZZP and doublecheck.
