Alright so I installed my black friday purchased HV3 with the new gasket 2 days ago. Cranked up great and drives great, but after putting about 25miles on it, the SES light popped up. I drove it home and read the code. It's P0113 related to a problem with the IAT sensor circuit. I have a FWI with the IAT mounted about an inch after the filter in the fenderwell. I checked to see that it's still plugged in, it is. The sensor was new when I put the FWI in about 5 months ago.

My gas milage is and has been suffering as I keep modding the car using a ZZP PCM that I've had for more than a year. Adding the HV3 didn't help the gas situation either. I'm pretty sure my car's running rich and the PCM thinks the cause of the problem is the IAT sensor. So anyone who has a tuner in or near Atlanta or Macon or Savannah let me know! I could really use the help.

PS Would a mini AFC fix my problem?

If possible, find someone who can scan it. Also, unhook the IAT, make sure no pins are bent and connections are tight. Worse comes to worse, by another IAT.

AFC won't help you there, but you still need to find a local tuner.

Probably the IAT wire, I know it will not reach the fenderwell using the stock wire.

kinda off subject, but wouldn't mounting that IAT sensor out that far cause the tune to be incorrect.. i mean ya it's showin colder air where it's gettin sucked in at but wouldn't stock location be better as that's the spot right before it hits the engine? than again it's probably only a difference of 5 degrees or somethin. just a thought

if the air velocity is high enough it should be pretty much the same.

"more accurate" but it really wants the temp of the air going into the TB, not the intake. Thats the way it was setup from the factory so unless you wanna change your tables, it will just hurt you.

To the OP, check the wires yet?

from one extreme to the other on the IAT sensor you might gain or lose one whole degree of timing. OH NO! you people have your intakes trying to get low IATs. its a waste of time, effort, and money.

X2 most of the tables in the pcm go off of the ECT.

Here is the only table that goes by the IAT (goes by degrees in celsius)

i measured intake temperatures using a digital temperature sensor (my dad hooked it up with his voltmeter) while driving with the sensor in both locations, it was about 8 to 12 degrees different. difference is it stays a constant temp in the fenderwell, it isn't affected by the motor temperature. I'm not sure if that would cause the light considering it came on just after i installed the HV3...the intake has been there for awhile.

so what youre trying to say is that your intake doesnt make any more power than before, it just sounds cool. youre not getting any more timing or power from that.

    FLOW > TEMPERATURE

    FLOW > TEMPERATURE[/QUOTE]

exactly, and pressure > flow. but pressure is dependent upon flow so, it's best to increase flow and decrease head losses. having a direct path to the TB with the least amounts of bends is best. the question of surface roughness and friction factor is nearly negligible because the fluid in question is air.

temperature will only affect timing and a/f. the idea of having the IAT sensor in the fenderwell is that temperature is lower and CONSTANT there, therefore, you get less of the heat soak affect than if it was in the stock location.

Yeah nobody seems to realize what a great free program it is. I use UVscan for scanning, tiny tuner and table modifier for tuning, powrtuner for writing.
