Alright I just got home from work and heard 2 strange noises coming from under my hood. The first showed up right away. Kinda sounds like that noise you hear when you change where the blower blows air through (windshild, ground, combination, etc...) But it happens every 5 seconds or so, even though I'm not changing the vent route.

Second noise has me more concerned. It showed up right as I was parking my car (I was still in drive). I sounds exactly like metal scraping against metal. Like two metal disks rubbing together. It's sounds like it's coming from the pulley assembly.

Both of these showed up at nearly the same time and so they're probably related. It's dark right now so I can't dig around but I'll tell you this. The metal sound is really loud. I opened the hood of my car and didn't dare bend down to look.

Ok so it was bugging me so I went back out to look at it. I'm positive it's my AC compressor pulley. It's where the noise is coming from and when I started messing around with it, found that the outer part of the pulley assembly is loose. I can turn it and it makes the scraping I'm hearing. I'm assuming this isn't supposed to happen?

My AC compressor has been out for over a year now, and I never turn it on. I tried tonight and it just made the first noise I described earlier. Plus the AC light didn't come on.

    Any thoughts?
