could use some advice from you guys - i have a chance to pick up a black gt for around $400 and in great shape. the prob is that one of the valves broke off and seized the motor - that's what the owner told me.

what can i expect? replace the whole engine or might i get lucky and need only a new head? i want the car regardless...just a question of convincing the old lady.

well, only way to tell is taking it apart and going form there. how many miles on the thing? If it is high mileage might consider getting a used one iwth low miles and rebuild that one and have a fresh low mileage motor.

the engine has around 151k miles. i hear that's quite a bit for a domestic but i want it as a project anyways...i guess i'll find out how bad it is

how much of damage can a loose valve cause? any more than some scratching?

151k is not a lot for a 3800. in fact, it happens all the time. if he really dropped a valve there is piston and cylinder damage so youll either need a rebuild or a new motor. i would suggest a new motor just for your ease.

I'd do it and drop a used motor in. Figure at the most the motor costs you around $500 and you have a good car that's worth more.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
