Heres a update on my coolant issue, took the car back on firday, they performed another pressure check and used the ultraviolet light says they cant detect any leaks, went and looked at a couple other gp and a impala.Think im gonna stick with the gp over the impala.I have a 30 day exchange warranty that i will take use off. After looking at the other cars backed out ,got out and low and belohld coolant on the fresh snow, went home left it for a few hours to cool down went back out and backed it out and guess what, you got it coolant spots funny thing is at the dealership when i looked at the coolant spots found a couple of hard little green pellets? any ideas. The gp im lookind at is excatly like the one i got stealth grey and only 24000ks.

green pellets? Not likely from Dexcool. However where were the coolant drops related to the engine?

No not the drivers, imeant just inside the pass side.I wonder if it the bottle just overflowing cause according to the gm shop foreman the fill level is right above the return line to the rad?.

Yeah that full line is way down there. Odd because the overflow bottle is huge in comparision. The overflow bottle has an overflow bleed off tube on the back side of the bottle next to to the firewall.

Keep in mind that, if you drive up any inclines, and the bottle is overfilled, it will come out, when it may not be during level conditions. There is an incline leading up to my garage and the reason I would see coolant on my floor.

Okay, now I understand. Is it possible that the little tube that runs from the radiator to the overflow is not on there tightly. Particularly on the overflow bottle end?

I can speculate on why "they" say not to add coolant to your radiator and only add to the overflow bottle. There are probably too many goofs out there who don't understand when and when not to open the radiator cap. For instance, when adding coolant to a hot engine, you don't want to pull the cap since there could be pressure on it. Opening it could lead to hot coolant blowing out all over and burning you. Adding coolant to an overflow bottle can be done any time whether or not the engine is running.

There could also be some dummy out there who adds really cold water/coolant to a hot engine and causes problems. Adding to an overflow bottle gives you some time for the temperatures to equalize.

Since you were looking at new cars something that is "supposed" to be done is new car inspections before they go on the lot, which means topping off fluids if low. Im sure a lot of dealerships skip over this step or the may not do this until you purchase the car and they do a final detail and inspection on it to make sure everything is up to par.

I would like to add a comment to this that will hopefully be helpful. When you buy a car from a dealership they are trained to tell you they have the best cars and nothing will ever go wrong with them, so when you take it in for warranty work at the dealer of course they aren't going to tell you they forgot to fill it with coolant when it is checked off on the delievery check sheet. For them to admit that there is a legitament problem with your vehicle would be admitting to their incomptence because they have blown you off for this long. Here is what they train their incompentence reaasure the customer that they purchased a quality product, then tell them it's an intermittent problem and it's common for new vehicles to have a few bugs as they break in. Then when all else fails be a complet a hole and hope the customer goes away. Just make sure you get invoices to record all the times you took it to the dealer to get this problem resolved. You can always take it to another dealer or an independent shop to get another opinion.

I think that top statement is correct, the dealer is never wrong. As in my case got all the documents and also register a complaint to Gm Canada, heres an update got the dealership to do a complete system flush as to get all the old coolant and dye and any stop leak pellets if any they added to my systen, got in in writing as to any coolant leaks while in warranty or out will be fix. Also as a good will on there part they installed a remote start for me.
