How hard/costly is it to weld a cracked PLOG?basically is it worth it to buy and repair a cracked or for a poor college kid to buy a new one?
    thanks

    New 304 PLOG from ZZP = $180 +shipping
Used with minor crack = $50 + shipping
and I don't know how to weld, is it terribly hard to learn? I'm willing to experiment, and my grandpa has a welding tool, I'm just wondering if its worth it, or how much it would be to get it done by a shop if anyone knows?

sorry to hijack your thread but whats up with that 304 steel? does it mean that its better quality and that the plog wont crack? whats the deal with that if anyone knows, or is zzp just finding an excuse to jack up the price?

if you have access to a welder: maybe its worth it.

if you have no access to a welder: not worth it.

but seriously, stop being so cheap and just buy one brand new. if you cant spend $1000 at any given time on your car then you shouldnt be modding it at all.

if my plog cracked and i took it to the local muffler shop and asked them to weld it, they'd probably charge around $10-20. in my opinion, it would be worth trying

no, i feel ya. i was in the same boat a couple years back, but if you mod your car youre going to break it. if you dont have a grand to fix anything that may come up then you just short changed yourself on when it does break. its not an if, its a when.

Alright this is BS zzp now no longer sells the mild steel version and bumped the 304 price up to 260 plus shipping idk if I should just look for a cheap set of used headers at this point or buy the cracked plog ... anyone know the life expectancy of a repaired plog? And yea Ik I need some cash on the side for repairs but I only use it when I'm home aka the summer which is when I'll be working anyway thanks for the advice though

how far do you plan on going with the modded rout? if the mild steel cracked once... who knows when it would crack again... but then again if you stay n/a then yeah it could possibly be a good deal

alright so its come down to repaired PLOG 100 or used pacesetter painted headers 200(without DP but i already have one) ... idk what to pick, for now no top swap (its a 02 GT) maybe someday in the future so thats gotta stay in mind. also gotta factor in ease of install in my driveway and cost of gasket. any help from anyone? already have FWI, 180*tstat, DHP PCM, 2.5" catted DP.

Pacesetter's...but you can't use the DP you have. It is made for manifolds...not headers.

IMO...even if you top swap...just get the damn PLOG and have it welded. And you can reuse the stock manny gasket because it is metal.
