The better half's car is spotting the driveway with a small oil leak. I have already changed the valve cover gaskets which I was told by the dealer as being the source of the oil spotting...though it is common I guess it was not the problem.

Where else should I be looking? If it is the oil pan, from what I understand it is a pain to change the gasket?

    P.S.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with the valve cover gasket replacement!

The oil pan. And yes it is a pain in the but if you don't have the engine out of the car. If you dreplace it yourself be sure to put RTV on the gasket whether it is new or not. If you don't you will have done all that work for nothing.

It could be the main seals as well even though it is more likely to be the oil pan gasket. Why don't you get some degreaser clean the engine compartment and then see what areas come back oily and you will have your answer as to where it is coming from. Or if you can't get under it, degrease it at the car wash and have whoever changes your oil see where it is oily when you take it in.

True. Although the Main selas like you say seem to hold up fine for the most part. And that's a good idea about degreasing everything and keeping a close eye on it. But make sure you do. Otherwise the wind from driving can throw that oil all over the place.
