    Alright fellas i have had this car for almost a year now and i need to go faster. nothing beats going fast other then sex! so i have a 2005 pontiac grand prix with just the 3.8 series 3 (i think) motor in it and i am bored of it. I am currently rebuilding the motor out of my dodge power ram so i can have a car to toot around in while im working on this car. what kind of rods and piston's and crank, and turbos and what not should i get? I have looked all over zz preformance but they have nothing for my motor which pisses me off. I can slap a supercharger on there becasue the compression ratio is to high on my motor all ready for the kind of fuel they use up here in alaska to keep it from jelling all that will do is screw a bunch of crap up. So i wana make this a low compression motor so that i can put a turbo on there and not worry about running over 10:1 compression ratio on this damn thing. help me out fellas
    thanks
    peace

    I hate these kinds of threads. First and foremost we need to know your budget, your performance goals, etc.

    How fast do you really want to go?
    What is your budget?
    What is the extent of your mechanical ability?
    If it's not great, do you have people around who can help you?

    There are tons of options for the 2004+ L26 cars, but we need to know the answers to those questions first.

    I agree, these kinds of threads can be challenging, but thats what the community is here for. I have thought in the past that maybe we should have people answer a questionnaire or something to get an idea of how mechanically inclined they are or are not. Rate it on a scale of 1 - 10 and then have the modifications that we can do to our cars rated also. That way the car owner can see where they fall in skill level in relation to the work or modification they wish to do.

    what kind of fuel restraints are there? what octane, etc?? this is interesting

    you might not find a whole lot of bottom end upgrades, since the bottom end of these motors are pretty stout. (not that you wont find upgrades, just not too many)

    i dont remember right off the back what kind of fuel up here there is. I just know that if your running to high of a compression up here you can screw things up with your regular octane come around to winter time. they add stuff to the fuel up here and it is wiered.

    well my budget is not really all that important. this is going to be over time build. Im just going to add stuff now and whenever i get the time and money i will do a complete over haual and get a new cam, crank, piston's, rods, heads, intake, and so on and also a turbo charger. My mechanical skills. well i work for alaska sales and service and i have been working on cars since i was 5 and i replace motors in new cars and trucks all the time and rebuild them from time to time. Becasue we live up here in alaska it causes all kinds of problems when it comes to rod clerences and the visocity of the oil. so any kind of knock and i diagnois it as a lower end problem, Company and by GM policy the motor needs to be replaced.

    Hey there, ZZP offers plenty of stuff for N/A cars! I'm currently in the mid 14s with my setup, which is just about 1.5-2 seconds faster than stock. It really comes down to how fast you really want to go, and how much you're willing to spend. What are your goals are far as power goes? Stock bottom ends hold up well to high power levels as long as the engine is tuned properly, and is not suffering from knock retard. Forged pistons, etc. are an expensive luxury which we don't necessarily need. If I'm not mistaken, ZZPs 9 second twin turbo GT uses a stock 50K mile L67 bottom end out of a GTX.

    Here's a list of the N/A and other misc mods I have done to my car:

    Modifications

    Engine/Performance Modications

    * GT2 Cam (11/14/2007)
    * 14 Percent Alternator Underdrive Pulley (9/15/2007)
