    Im looking at a 2001 gt. It has 180k on it. Is that really high mileage for these cars? The guy is asking $2500 for it. I want a new DD that is reliable.

    I paid 3k for my 01 GT with 112k on it. I think you should either talk him down or look elsewhere. Unless he can prove the intake gaskets have been changed and the trans has been rebuilt.

    Im going to look at it tommarow after work. I can do the intake gaskets myself plus I get a GM discount on parts. How long do the trannys normally last in these cars?

    it all depends on the car... they can run forever or get beat up very quickly... its all how it was taken care of good luck with the purchase

    I took it for a test drive yesterday. The tranny slips really bad. The fluid is really burnt. I dont think Im going to buy this one. Im going to keep looking.

    Its amazing that trans lasted 180k....

    Good excuse to look for a GTP.
