i want to get a pcm and i was looking at overkill or having one done some where in the omaha, nebraska area is someone knows of anyone that does it let me know. i would also like to know any info i will need to know about when doing this like if i would need any mods or if stock is ok for this thanks guys

a custom tune is definitely better than any shelf pcm.. but the good shelf pcm's are either overkill or Intense... they are good

yah i saw one on craigslist for lincoln but it was 230+ for the tune depending on what u wanted so i think im just gunna go with the overkill since they just put out the 4.0 version and now a hp tuner can tune it and its only 130 for it

I'm sure there are some Iowa boards...hell we have people in the KCMO area that can HP Tune and know their **** for $150...but you'd have to make the trip down here for it...but just keep in mind...there is only so much you can tune on a car with no blower. It won't be THAT much different unless you have mods. I start bolting stuff on and THEN get her tuned.

well idk what mods to do that would just bolt on im planning on doing exhaust and a cold air sometime and i still have a powertrain warranty on my car and if i go with an overkill im going to keep my stock one also so that i can still get warranty work done basically i need some pointers here i guess

Get a 180* T-Stat, Autolite 605's, Make your intake, and a Downpipe and front powerlogged manifold...THEN, get your tune...

If I were you i'd go with intense for the pcm, I've been having lots of trouble with overkill. First pcm made my tranny thump, I had to order a second pcm to try to fix it and the thump went away but now it shifts like stock, much slower than the first pcm, Will answered my e-mails fast when I had questions before I ordered, now when I have a problem he either doesn't respond at all or take 10 days to respond and doesn't answer any of my questions, this been going on for 2 months now. I got tired of all the BS so I ordered an Intense which will be delivered tomorrow.

well i've looked at intense and don't know what i would put on there and im thinking of getting the plog and the 180 t-stat does the plog bolt right in or what needs to be done to get it in and if i just get the regular one that is either high temp paint or stainless is that fine?

The paint choice is just up to you...the better the coating, the lower the underhood temps will be...but yes a POLG is straight bolt in...you will need to go buy some new exhaust bolts because I guarantee those will snap on you when you take them out. Honestly, get a downpipe before a powerlog...but thats me...the front manifold is crappy but the stock downpipe is way worse IMO. And the 180* is like 10 bucks...but is kinda pointless until you get a PCM with the lower fan turn-on settings...only reason I say get all of your mods and THEN your PCM is because the PCM makes the car come full circle...sure all those mods are sweet, but just wait until you get the tune done Another thing after all of those mods, a shift kit and poly motor mounts would be a great next mod...get that power to the ground so you don't lose it through your crappy stock mounts

question ok ill prolly get the pcm and the 180 t-stat first and the down pipe will come a little later when i get some more cash im going to get the overkill pcm just because its been recommended to me when it asked for the mods ive done is the down pipe something i would need to put in there or just the t-stat cuz ill do the tstat for sure

also will the downpipe with the highflow cat on it be my best bet from zzp and does it just unbolt then i bolt the down pipe in?

yes it just unbolts. 4 bolts and you have to disconnect a sensor

Yes, the Downpipe is a bolt-in part...you can run catless it is up to you. Just tell Will you want the cat code deleted in the PCM. And these motors love to breathe, the downpipe is a great mod.

well i just did the 180 tstat and will be ordering the pcm soon what is the cat code is that if i run catless and will it affect it up until i do get the downpipe or will i be fine? also will it hurt to run catless such as my gas mileage or anythin? sorry i am asking alot of questions just new to this thanks for the help guys

If anything you get BETTER mpg without a cat....and yes, when you take out the cat the PCM will throw a check engine light but as long as you have Will remove it...you won't have to worry about it. If you get a catted DP then you won't have to have him shut it off...
