Hey, I'm new to the site, recently got a used 2006 Grand Prix, and I have a couple of questions.

    1. Where is the fuel filter? Also it seems I'll need to soak the fittings with some penetrating lube before trying to unscrew it (or is that on older models).

    2. Is it reasonable to get a tune and optionally a cai for these cars? (I know, RTFF and search). If so, what are the best sources and brands for these?

    3. Any other typical non-supercharged performance mods that are worth doing?

    4. Any links to free online service manuals? (I prefer the factory service manuals/dvds, but Haynes books work, too; I just don't have one yet.)

The car will mostly be used as a daily driver, but could see a track visit or two .

I do all my own work and have heavily modded various vehicles, over time. So I"ll be doing more research of course, but need to get this thing all tuned up, and all I have left are the fuel filter and transmission fluid/filter.

    Thanks!

    1) fuel filter is in front of the rear drivers side tire. look for it close to the edge of the car.

    2) tunes are best done from someone who has either DHP Powertuner or HPTuners. make your own intake for $50 and itll be better than anything you can buy.

    3) there are a few, but you wont get a ton out of an N/A car.

    4) no idea, i learned everything about my car the hard way.

On the 04+ GPs since they have a returnless system the fuel filter should be a nonserviceable unit in the tank itself. They last the life of the car, according to GM.

It is filtered. In the tank with a nonserviceable lifetime filter.

Ford should get with the program.

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.
