I've been hearing a lot of talk about the top swap being a ticking time bomb so that kinda discouraged me from going that route, just wanted some opinions on that, also as far as going n/a I was wondering what kind of gains I would be looking @ if I added er rockers,plog,3"dp to my current setup (best 1/4 mile 15.58) mods in the sig...oh yea I'm working with $800 can that get a full top swap done?

well you could definitely get the rockers plog and 3" dp for less than 800. theres a downpipe or 2 for sale in the for sale section, and i think a plog too. as for gains, you'd be looking at similar gains to those posted on ZZPs website under their er rocker write up. ever think about saving for a turbo?

anyone that says a top swap is a ticking time bomb doesnt know how to work on cars. the bottom end can take the boost just fine so long as your tune is in check.

if you stay n/a, expect to stay in the 15s or very high 14s.

i top swapped my car with a cam and all the fixin's for under $1000.

yea, a top swap is NOT a ticking time bomb. read read read. dont throw the top swap on and start dropping pullies and youll be fine. my top swaps holding up just peachy.

00prixGT says hes having good luck with his intense tune for his top swap (he told them he had a top swap and they tuned it accordingly) or find someone local with a tuner that can tune it for you.

once its tuned in, it will be as reliable as the L67. but if you dont tune it and go romping around on it........... yea it might blow.

someone had a topswap for a few hundred bucks in the for sale section a while back...

my tune from intense isn't bad, 0.0 knock unless its below 18* outside, i also have the genV which is more prone to knocking, the car is dying for a dyno tune though. Only reason i had intense give me a mail order was so i can get around untill i do get it dynoed.

can't say much for the transmission though, i broke 4th but the rest of the trans is still fine 10,000 miles later. Keep in mind im very hard on the car
