Hi. I'm working on a 2000 GP 3.8 (non supercharged).

    Getting check engine code 0171.

Replaced both 02 sensors, air filter, PCV valve, wires, spark plugs, and fuel filter.

Car is still randomly dieing at idle and occasionally misfiring. Although not as bad now that I have changed all this stuff.

    Any ideas?

Only other thing I can think of is fuel pump or injectors.

I've seen crankshaft position sensor and ignition control module listed on here as well.

Not getting traction control off light but tach does drop zero. But wouldnt crank sensor give a code?

    Thanks.

Forgot to mention that check engine light did go off for about 15 miles after changing O2 sensors but then came back on.

take a scan and show it to us. what do your LTFT look like? is it only misfiring on one cylinder? had any work done recently? is it knocking?

we need to know more. sometimes when the crank sensor is dying it is intermittent and wont throw a code.

so your "Trac Off" light is on? is you ABS light on also? could be a speed sensoron one of the wheels! There is a right up about it somewhere here, search "ABS and Trac Light"

Also , the crank sensor will give a code if it's that.
your coil pack could be getting weak also.
I've been working on mine for a while and Cylinder 6 misfire, Random misfire, replaced crank sensor when that code came up and then replaced the cam sensor when that came up. Ran Seafoam and a full tank of high test, moved injectors around, moved injector wires around and still have the same misfires and sputtering/backfire. COIL gets replaced tommarrow!! Advance has a cheap on w/ 90 day warranty for $20.00. You don't know which one is bad so you might want three, it's up to you good luck!!!!!

when I saw the title I thought "maf sensor" off the top of my head, but those aren't the same codes I was throwing

pull your maf sensor out and see if you still have a problem... looks to be a different problem but it won't hurt anything to try as you'll just go into low octane spark mode which refers to your MAP sensor and Volumetric Efficiency, if you still have the problem just plug it back in

Before we get crazy check the coil packs as well, its ofter easier than other work and can rule out some issues.

maf sensor is a hard check?

Simply pull it out, take a drive.....
