My dad bought me a new used car after my oil pan Gastec on my 97 dodge intrepid. He didn’t want to dump any more money in to her. Long story short I got a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT two door. I’m looking for a simple HP boost to pick up some speed to catch up with my old 3.5 in my dodge. I was looking at a electric turbo just wondering if it’s a good way to go on the 3.8 in the Pontiac or should I go and grab a top end out of a GTP and put it in.

99 GT sloweer than the 97 Intrepid? If so, something is wrong with you're GT! My buddy had an Intrepid with the 3.5 Dohc, it was slow, maybe a high 16 sec car on its best day. A GT should have no problem beating that car......

Top swap is taking the heads, lower intake, and supercharger off a GTP model, and with a few other parts, adding it onto your cars engine. This is what we call a "top swap".

GT's have higher compression than the GTP's so you have to tune correctly for it so your engine lasts longer, bot for the most part, its swap it over, and have fun.

With that...I would rather go turbo if I was going through the effort. You have much more benefits, and can open so many more doors with a turbo on one of these 3800's than what you can achieve with a supercharger.

As said, the electric turbos = crap.

Go real, or go home. Get you the real deal, and be sure to have an obnoxiously loud blow of valve in your set up.

Welcome aboard to the forum, we are happy to have you here. Be sure to ask any questions you have, no matter if you feel that they are stupid. We are all here to help ya, and others, so you dont have to worry about flaming on this sight.

Hopefully see ya sometime soon, over on the local KC forum.

    Proven.

Made 4psi on my TBI injected Iron Duke 4 banger Buick back in the day.

Got beat by a 5-spd Beretta...put on the blower...ran right on his bumper. Yup, awesome.

wow, 4lbs boost with a leaf blower...only if you can put 4 on there, individual runners...that would been a beast! yeah top swaps are nice, but i dont have the dough for one, and was trying to sell the car. might as well keep it now!! was looking at tsw rims, but not sure if they would fit. good luck on your 99 gt, let me know how it goes. a decently cheap upgrade would be TDCRacing FWI. just PM him (TDCRacing) and ask for details and prices. i got one after christmas for about 142 with shipping. not too bad, its massive, and will boost some power...anyone in socal have a tuner? lol!!

I say go with the Electric Super Charger and a Tornado gas saver! Those add about -15 HP but the real boost is in the stickers! Putting a logo stickers add about 75 HP a peice!
