My 08 gp fans aren't coming on. Temp gauge goes way up and fans still don't turn on. I tried the ac cuz i read here that the fan should turn on which it does not. I just unplugged the temp sensor below the t stat housing and they both turned on on hi. So does this mean my temp sensor is bad. I didn't check my relays but fuses are good. Thanks

    temp sensor is dead.

the fans should still turn on iirc when the ac is turned on, if your ac works. i think. i could be wrong tho. id run it temp sensor unplugged till you get a new one in there.

I don't have a cel on and i did replace that sensor last year with an ac delco. And this morning i did smell a gas odor. Not a strong odor but i think this issue is causing the engine to use much more fuel.

Thanks scottydogs. That would explain other symptoms I'm having. Gonna be the third sensor i put in. Maybe I'll something other than ac delco.

get one from a junk yard. oem is always best.

with a delco you would think its good, but looks like even those can suck, at least it ws not dead in the box.

take a good look at the little harness to the temp sensor, it bakes in the exhaust heat, the wires could be f ed up too and cause the same issue.

I just changed my temp sensor and there's no difference. I drove it after changing it and my temp gauge showed higher than normal temp so checked to see if my fans were on and they weren't.I did notice that large hoses from the rad were hard as rock and both were cold, they only got hot after i let it idle for about 5-6 minutes. Could it be t stat or pump???

fans should turn on. if they are set like the 05's they dont turn on till 218ยบ

you check that little wire harness out for damage, cracks, bare wire showing, any of that to be seen?

I took it off and checked the wires and they seem ok. Didn't do a continuity test tho. As hot as it was when the hoses were hard and cold, im thinking I the tstat could be pooched. What do you think? Thanks

my hose gets hard, but its hot, so maybe the t stats not opening? cheap enough to swap one. even still the fan should come on.

typically if you unplug the temp sensor the fans come on, all is working right, but the temp sensor.

you get a aftermarket one? those are know to be dead in the box a lot.
