Just got done with my 3.4 timing belt. There is an actuator that pushes on the tensioner pully, you wont hear or read about this part untill you get inside and see it. It it not mentioned or availeble in any of the kits, it is a dealership part only 117.00. If you dont replace this with the kit it can break the new belt and cause a do over.

Shouldn't need to replace, just make sure to properly refill with preferably full synthetic 5 wt. oil. Also make sure to tighten the bolts for the front smaller retaining plate only to the specified torque or you may break the bracket behind the actuator. To get the details for this procedure, be sure to search for the service bulletin update to the timing belt procedure which explains it in mediocre detail. Also, don't put the actuator in until the timing belt is secure around every gear and the tensioner pulley, and make sure the push rod is fully retracted or you'll never get it seated properly in the little pivot cup. Its a tight fit you may need to put a wrench on the tensioner pulley to push it foreword enough to get the actuator seated properly. Then you can pull the pin out.
