I have a 2004 Grand Prix and I've noticed over the last year (getting worse recently) that when I turn the key, the engine starts but then it dies. The only way to keep it going is if I give it some gas. This happens maybe 20% of the time and seemingly random times (usually after driving about 5 minutes then leaving car off for an hour or so). Any thoughts?

Fuel pump is probably going out.
    Try cleaning your MAF too.

I'd start by cleaning the throttle body, and since your there anyway clean the MAF sensor too.

Ten years of continuous driving excitement and counting!

this is also the wrong section. the 3.4L DOHC hasnt been made/ used in a car since 1997. if you have a 2004 with a 3400. that is a diff engine.

And...it would be a 3800...because after '04 the only engine's offered in GP's were the L26, L32, or LS4...and the 3100 was the only engine offered in the 97-03 GP's.
