Ok i have been considering an engine swap... after more thought, i have a new plan.

My current DOHC is still running strong. so instead of putting it down, i am going to give her the trany she has always wanted.

Enter: 4t65eHD with 3.69's and 7/8 chain, possibly the hardened input shaft as well.

as many know the 4t60e that came with it could be destroyed by a LQ1 in stock form let alone a mod'd one. i figure with a bullet proof trany like the above, i can let the DOHC do what it does best. i'll prob even be able to squeeze a few more HP/tq's out of her now that the trany wont go boom.

    That is all Phase 1.

Phase 2 will be building a new engine for her. my current engine has 223,000 miles on it, but is running very strong. it has plenty of life to let me take my time and build a new engine for her. in addition to the current mods i have, i will spend time porting the heads. and possibly look into porting the cooling ports and oil ports.

Phase 3 my get tied into phase 2.... T U R B O i dont want anything extreme, but i have seen some DOHC build that are making 320+ hp on around 9 psi. im thinking about 6-7 psi will be more then enough for my DD. While building and sizing the turbo i will also build a new intake manifold to maximize flow for the power band i want.

My original goal was to match the GTP's 14.7 1/4 time:
My Z34 stock was doing mid to upper 15's at the track. last time it ran it put down a 14.81 while spinning the tires at the back half of the track... not sure if the gear and tire ratio was too much that the peak power spun the tires or if there was something on the track that made them spin... also the belt tensioner when out on that run so i didn't get a chance to tweak the tune for another run. i feel the car was capable of a a 14.7 as my mph was slightly slower by 1.5 mph vs my 14.9 run i had before that.

My New Goal will be to be to break into the 13's, but i would love to be at 13.5

i will keep all informed with the progress.

    96 Z34 (RIP LQ1 14.81@92.3) L36 Swap 14.9@91.5 www.cardomain.com/id/z34phoenix
    Topswap: P&P All,Si Valves,L76's,LW Pushrods,SD's,DHP PT PB 13.91@99.8

What mods do you already have? And what do you mean by porting, like how do you go about doing that? I have the same engine and am looking at adding horsepower anyway I can. I like your tranny idea, I hear the stock ones are weak. This all sounds awesome!

Oh never mind..I see your mods in your signature.
