So now i just realized that my car is taking off in second at all times. Apperently there is a switch that will engage the tranny for it to take off in second ( for ice and crappy weather etc) located on the center counsel dealy. i got a 92 grand prix with the heads up display on the dash and the center cousil hud info thing. Any one know what that switch is called? Second gear start switch? I called all auto places and apperently they have no clue what im talking about, go figure.

Who are you calling? they should know what a second gear launch switch is....It says it in the name! lmao This is why I post forums asking questions, look it up, then do the work by myself. I don't trust other people with my wheels, cuz most of them don't know what they're doing now a days

The "2nd gear start" feature was an option, and while it's not rare, it wasn't super common, either. The picture bluegtp posted is what the button would look like on the '94 - '96 style interior. For your '92, if it came with the feature, it would be on the end of the center console (just below the Driver Info Center if your car has one of those). However, 2nd gear start only works with electronic transmissions, so the only w-bodies it would be optional on are all 3.4 DOHC motors, and '93 & up on everything else.
PREVIOUS: '89 Pontiac 6000 STE AWD (2/1376), '90 Pontiac GP SE McLaren Turbo (1/2749)
'90 Pontiac Grand Prix STE McLaren Turbo (1/1000), '01 Pontiac GP GTP Special Edition (1/1341)
CURRENT: '00 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (ugh...boring regular one)

Was wondering about this. My 96 gp 3.4 is equipped with it. Never saw this before with any vehicle I owned. So I just switch this on in bad weather and It lock's it to 2nd gear for the take off instead of first which causes alot of wheel spin. Interesting. Learn something new every day. By the way, I can't wait to finally get to drive this car.
