That makes sense. I'll let it cool down completely and start from the beginning. I found a write-up in the tech tips.

Well if you go get it up to temp and then Beat on it for a few minutes, stop and go type driving with a few to freeway speed pulls then directly back home and let it set for at least an hour. Then use the fan to get it to cool it down quicker do not let the overflow go empty, cannot stress this enough.

How are things going?
Problem seems to be solved. Definitely an airflow problem. I went digging around looking for phantom leaks that might be introducing air into the system and found the front of the radiator caked with a 1/2" of crud. A good pressure washing and the car barely tops 185 in 100 degree temps and stop and go traffic. AC seems to be running a couple of degrees cooler as well. Fingers cross it was that easy.
