Hello all, I have a 2003 pontiac grand prix SE 230k miles. I just got this car about a month ago. Yesterday I had a low oil light come on and I immediately pulled over and added a quart of oil. I drove around and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. It drove fine all day and sat all night without leaking. I had my wife add another quart of oil as was suggested by another member on here (and pick up 4 more). I took it to the store and back and noticed a puddle underneath it. Because my time is limited (Im leaving for denver tonight, Ill be there 1 week possibly 3) I cant take apart the engine to find the fix. I moved the wheels fully to the right and it looks like the leak is coming down from somewhere around the right side of the engine, from the wheel well it looks like its coming from above the water pump (If the lowest pulley is the water pump that is).

I looked in the resevoir and pulled the dipstick and it looks like its good on oil, the oil is up at the 3rd notch, but I still have a fresh puddle underneath.
I didnt see the oil filter, where is that located on the 2003 3.1?

Is there an additive I can toss into the oil to slow the leak? The car is my wifes so she is stuck with it, and I want her to have reliable transportation. Hell, I might have to get her to work on it.

    Thanks for your time!

    Here is the 3100.

Water pump is on the front half, pulley with 4 bolts holding it on. So likely not anywhere near there.

Oil filter is in the middle on the front, it's blue.

Top picture is the buick/pointiac motor, other is from like a malibu but are nearly the same.

Awesome!!!!!! Ok I was watching videos on the 3800 thats why i couldnt find the oil filter. Then the leak seems to be surrounding the bottom rear pulley, coming from above, but when you look down into the motor from above you cant really see where anything starts. The oil is built up on the frame on the right side. Did I mention awesome picture by the way? And thanks?

Only guessing here, but it could be the front cover gasket or maybe even the crank seal behind the crank pulley. The bottom pulley with the large bolt in the middle is the crank pulley.

I'd honestly have to have pictures or be right there to help more.

Those 3100 always leak oil from everywhere, but most of the time they don't just drain out and puddle up.
