Ok so first of all i bought a 2001 grand prix se 3.1L for $2150

I thought the kid was an alright guy until I noticed one of the windows were held up by a 2x4... he obviously knew that was wrong and didnt tell me so now I wonder what else is wrong with it and I assume the worst

    the speedometer reads 20mph off

there is oil in the coolant... I dont know if this is residue from a fixed head gasket or if the LIM is eaten away and the oil is leaking into coolant because there is no coolant in the oil.... or if i have a cracked head or block...

Im planning on doing a flush tomorrow

why buy a car with a 3100 in it? you broke rule one.

these engines have head and lim gasket failure all the time. so plan on doing that asap.

the window regulator is the least of your problems right now.

Only 2k not that bad and it runs and drives... Is it possible to replace the gaskets at home without any major equipment? How much do gaskets run? How do I know if it's not a cracked block or such and is indeed gaskets

if its got coolant in the oil do not drive it. or run it. you;ll spind a bearing and need a whole engine.

a basic tool set will get the job done. and a torque wrench.

gaskets and head bolts and fluids around 200 i'd think all and all.

shop around for the best prices on line for the gaskets. id stick with felpro gasket if you can. advance auto on line, find a discount code for more off, ebay, amazon, rock auto and so on. shop them all find your best prices.

it pretty much physically impossible to get oil in the coolant.

unless you have a oil cooler in your rad, and a doubt you have one of them.

"Only" 2k? I paid 2k for a running, driving, modded AWD Talon in great shape. You screwed yourself by not doing your homework.

lets hope so. you may want to add some rad flush to it to clean it up better then just a flush.

is it running hot? leaking coolant? or coolant missing and no leaks? or the check engine light on?

There's no way to disable the check engine lights is there? Have an odb2 sensor that won't communicate with ecu on this car but will on another... It is a cheapie from Amazon so it might just be the sensor not liking my car

check the cig lighter fuse, the obd2 port runs off that fuse. inside fuse box is where to look.
