The motor doesn't matter. So long as you have the same dual y-pipe exhaust as the GTs and GTPs (which an '02 SE should have), it should all be the same.

may I ask why you are looking for a cat back system for a 3100? No sarcasm intended but just curious if you are needing a higher flowing exhaust for mods or just better sound?

The GM 60° motors sound bad ass for being a V6, anyway (FAR better than the 90° motors). You can't go wrong with any mufflers as far as sound. But do you not have dual outlets already?

get a factory dual setup if you dont already have one and just replace the mufflers with pipe, but leave the resonator on. Sounds as good as flowmasters and alot cheaper. I had the setup on my 96 with a 3400 swap, loved it.

If you get one froma a junkyard you will want an exhaust from a 97-03. If you get one from an older gp the pipe they used back then is smaller than the newer ones. I dont run a resinator and it sounds good on my 3100 fyi

Cat only then? Removing res make much of a difference on loudness or just tone?

I run the cat only. People say that the res keeps rasp down but i dont have rasp or a res. I think its a little bit of both. (tone/loudness) Ialso run the cheap summit brand mufflers and i think it gives the perfect sound, not to quiet and not to loud.
