How hard is it to change a head gasket on a 3.1 . Should I do it or have a shop do it ? I'm a pretty good mechanic but on the older engines.

Shouldn't be too hard. The hardest part is probably getting stuff out of the way and off the heads.
Haven't called on this yet but if it only needs a head gasket and I can get it for $600 or less I can flip it for $2000-$2400. I only have $950 in my 2000 SE and with primer spots all over it I have been offered $2200.

I almost guarantee that it just needs the lim done on it.
It's a 3.1 60* v6s are notorious for blowing head gaskets. Oh you mean the one in the clist add.

3100 only blow hg if they get overheated.
31/3400 are the same motor for the most part
True story
My wife had a Montana with the 3400...had to replace the head gaskets around 50,000...only cost around $1400 to do...the back one was what blew, and he asked if I wanted him to do the front while he was there, as it would only cost $10 more for the other gasket, and I'm like...um...yeah?
But chances are the hg was fine and was just the lim gasket
