Hello all,

a few weeks ago my check engine light started to flash. I checked the code and it was a p301 (cylinder 1 misfire,) I have already spent many hours working on this. I immediately put new spark plugs and spark plugs wire but no change. Then I moved the ignition coils around to see if that would make a difference, but no change. The misfire only happens once i get over 3000rpms. The check engine light will flash for a minute or so and then go away. I found that if i let off the gas a bit but still give it a little push then the code cleans up after about 5 flashes. This made me think it could have been the injector, so we took the plenum out and installed a new injector and put new o-rings in the other 5 injectors. I got the engine back together and no change. We changed the fuel filter (hadn't been changed in years.) The only thing left that I could imagine was the ignition coil module. I picked up a used one from the local junk yard and then suddenly I had no issues. I pushed my car to its limits, trying to get the code to come back but it didn't (this was on friday 12/6/13.) Then yesterday on my way to work it started to flash again.....I am at a loss...the only thing that i can think that has changed since then is that here in MN the temps have been low...Friday - (9) Saturday - (8) Sunday - (12) Monday - (-4) Tuesday - (9.) I don't know what could have changed for it to suddenly work and then stop working a few days later. Do you think something in my system could have caused my newly used module to go bad as well? Any help with this would be great.
