it should be jumping more spark, like one per turn of the engine, you were cranking it for a bit, so one sparks no good, stick the plug in the wire, then rest it on metal some how, then crank it. watch for the plug to spark. it should be rather quick pulses or spark.

so I pulled the plug and tested it but I forgot to ground it, I will try again in a bit, funny thing is that when I had the plug out and tried to start it, it started for alike a split seconded then died, I mean real split. has not done that since it died in the beginning. strange. The plugs look nasty, think plugs wires and such should be changed but I want to figure out if this thing is worth putting any more money into. I only payed $600 for it.

bad, or old plugs and wires can sure keep it from running. to sink less then a 100 into a 600 dollar cars not to much.

I agree with scotty, change plugs and wires, shouldn't run much more than 50 bucks or so. Also pull a few plugs anyways to see if they are wet. If they are wet and its not gas chances are you have antifreeze in your cylinder fouling your plugs out if the lower intake manifold gasket went out. How does your oil look? How many miles are on it?

Well see I spent almost all I had on the car when I bought it. I did give it an oil change and put a can of restore in it. The oil wasn't bad. I would change to plugs and all but I don't have the funds to sink into it if it ends up being a fuel pump or so on. If it turns out to be that I will most likely sell it off. So u can understand why I don't to put more money into it if I don't have to. I did pull a couple plugs and they seemed dry. Not wet. Aside spark. Or looking at weak spark anyhow would that be a coil? I'm going to pick up a multimeter to see about testing.

the very first thing i do to a used car i just bought is to do a full tune up. most of the time you dont ask or cant trust what a sellers says, so it get plugs wires and a oil change. at least that way you now know when it was last done. and you want your car to run as best as it can.

i hear ya on the funds, but these are basic that should be done any way.

fuel pump can be bought for 30 bucks, you just change the pump, not the whole sender, thats when it cost a lot of money, when you get a drop in unit.

From that video its hard to say what was going on with your spark I saw one weak looking one. Defiantly something to look further into. Have you crossed out the possibility of the pump yet?

Are you talking brand new for a fuel pump for that like remand or used and I would have to drop the tank in order to replace it correct

just the pump, 93 grand prix fuel pump | eBay this is a ebay page of pumps and parts.

the part on the left is the pump, the rest of the housing is the sender, if your gas gauge works, there no need to change the whole part. you just swap the pump, and the new filter on the end. its to easy really. dropping the gas tank will be the worst part of the job.

I take it that it doesn't have an access panel to get to the fuel pump like the 97+?

sadly, no. so if the pump is bad, you want as little gas in the tank as possible.

not know the much of the cars back story, has it been sitting a long time? or was it running when you got it?

old gas cant also keep a car from running.

To me this sounds like a great example of fuel pump failure.

Remove the Fuel Line that connects to the Fuel Injector Rail (this is the one that delivers Fuel from the Fuel Filter) and place it in a container. When ready, have your helper bump the starter motor while you verify if Fuel comes out or not. No Fuel coming out of the Fuel Line further confirms a BAD Fuel Pump.

you can try pounding the tank dead center, some times that will wake up a dead pump. if it does fire up after you hit the tank, its a temp fix, dont trust it. replace the pump.

no, i mean literally with the palm of your hand pound on the gas tank. give it a few good hits dead center and then try to start the car.

its a shot, sometimes it will work sometimes it wont.

popping the fuel line off like posted above is also a good way to know for sure if the pump is working. just takes a bit more to get that test done. not sure if you have a schrader valve on your fuel rail that year, but if you see a large tire valve thing, thats it, and thats where you would put the pressure gauge.

most parts stores do a free rental, you leave a deposit on the tool, and you get a full refund when you return it.

Ok so got a fuel pump pressure tester. Checked pressure at rail. Nothing while in run or while cranking. Pulled plugs, not wet at all not even gas. cleaned them a bit (temporary) sprayed some starter fluid in the holes and cranked it up, tried to start then went back to just cranking. So I believe there is no fuel getting to the rail. So what to check before replacing the fuel pump?
