I own a 2002 Grand Prix and it power surges. I'll turn it on and sometimes it starts fine and sometimes it starts and then dies. When I do get it to start and I drive, the rpms drop and jump and the car dies, comes back on, dies, comes back on and dies. I have a small EVAP Leak. Can someone help me out here? This is very annoying and I need my car. It's completely undriveable and unsafe to drive do to it constantly turning off.

Does it run better with the MAF unplugged?

You could try that. And made clean the throttle body and IAC valve or see if that is the cause.

My dad drove it around and said it ran good without the MAF connected. When I drove it without the MAF, it ran like crap, surged, rpm dropped and jumped, it would die but come back on and it stalled like a total of 15 times. We think its the MAF but now I'm convinced its the MAF and something else.

Inspect the maf wires. If they look happy, spray them with maf cleaner.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

I've already cleaned the MAF. It got worse after the cleaning.

did you clean it with maf cleaner? if not you may have killed it.

and the wires hes referring to is the plugs wires, check for cracks, or breaks in the wires leading to the maf, you may need a new pig tail.
