Does anyone know how to get the CPS sensor out of the Eng I took the bolt holding it in off and can get it to turn around fine but I can not get it to pull out. Looking at the replacement it should just pull out.

Is it held in with a seal or does it have an Oring? It could be that you just have to wiggle it out, finagle it a little.

I dont believe the 3.1 motors are like ours. I believe their is a cylindrical and a couple inches long if I remember correctly. Its been a while since I messed with the 2.8 or 3.1L motors but I dont think you have to pull the balancer off those, but I reserve the right to be wrong about that.

You gotta be tough with it. It's got an o-ring seal, so it's in there pretty tight. If you have a really long screwdriver you might be able to get up there to pry it out. I've found it easier to stand on the passenger side of the car, and snake your arm around under the head and get it that way. It's almost impossible to get at it from under neath.

This also helps if you have long skinny arms like I do.

Oh yes, the CPS in a 2.8, 3.1, 3.4L!! these were fun back in the day. They are located in the side of the block as you already know. The problem is that when they go into the block they stick into the engine further then the block (I hope that make sense) making the plastic get oil soaked and causing it to swell. This makes it next to impossible to take out the way it went in. The usual plan of attack was to take off the oil pan and break off the plastic enough to be able to work the cps out through the hole it is mounted in.

    Have fun
