My cousin is giving me his grand prix and it has an issue. It needs a new crank position sensor. I know the procedures of going about replacing it from searching but the problem i run into is the tools. Also from searching i havent really found a write up on this, i see where theyve been posted but ALL those links are old and dead. from people who have done it yourself what tools did you use and need? I'm trying to find a pulley for harmonic balancer and what not. can i just use a wrench to lock the flywheel?

where can i get these or what can i use in their place? all and any help is appreciated.

    here ya go
    http://www.grandprixforums.net/how-r...sor-60906.html

As for the puller, get any puller...but look for the correct bolts. M6 x 1.00 or 1/4" fine pitch.
On the angle meter..don't worry...just go as tight as you can. I use a 600ft lb impact to zing them on with...never torqued one yet.

14mm bolt ...that's not the balancer..hell..it's not even another pulley. or...you are working on a 3100 and I'm not sure, because I haven't done one of those. Therefore your pics shouldn't line up with what are in that post.

My suggestion would be dump gas on it and light. That won't help you much though. Get a picture of the balancer and let's see what it looks like. Shouldn't be too much different in procedure.

    Heres my old post: http://www.grandprixforums.net/new-g...elp-69230.html

But anyway i followed the directions given to me only to make a trip to try and fix the car and get no where. I bought a steering/balancer universal puller tool (from napa) i also bought some M6 x 1.00 bolts. The balancer has 3 holes and the m6 bolts didnt fit, and the bolts that came with the puller fit but didnt seem to match the thread. can someone please lead me in the right direction. I dont wanna make another trip back out there no go nowhere again.

Basically I need help getting the balancer off.

Odd, the m6x100 bolts I bought fit, they almost go in at an angle but fit fine and I was able to remove mine.

hes got a 3100, not a 3800. he got the wrong info due to not saying it was a 3100 in the first post he made.

Merged. One post per issue please. Unfortunately your lack of info both times was going to hold you up from solving your problem. Moving to the 3100 section.
