All this **** just started today so I don't think I've messed anything up too bad yet. I was heading to meet up with some friends, and my car started over heating very badly so I went home. Here are my symptoms:

Lots of thick white smoke coming from exhaust.
Oil cap has creamy goo on it
    Overheats quicker than it should

    LIM gaskets, not head gaskets.

    They never go bad...like...ever.

Is the LIM Gasket easier to replace? Is it something I could do myself without shop tools?

like everyone stated, its a LIM job. expect your car to be out of comission for a day. itll take a while to do if you arent well versed in mechanics.

The key to figuring out whether it's the LIM or HG is to check for fuel or exhaust in the coolant.
As long as you can figure out the difference between fuel and exhaust you're all set!

    Nice Flake..

If you have the availability, test the compression and do a leak down test on the cylinders. That will tell you if a head gasket is bad. The most common item to go bad on a 3100 is the LIM gaskets and that would explain burning coolant etc and then not having the system bled properly due to the coolant loss can cause it to heat up.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
