Thread: Bleeding a 3.1L

I'm trying to find the correct procedure for bleeding a Grand Prix SE 3100 V6. There is the two bleeder valves and confuses me. The book says to fill radiator with both bleeder valves open. if coolant comes out close the bleeder valve otherwise close after the radiator is topped off. I have tried that method and it seems i have either air trapped in my system. Right now i'm starting the car letting warm up to operating temp, shut off cool down open radiator cap and top off with more coolant. Need help plz

There is two screws. One on the thermostat housing and one above the water pump. Which one should i bleed the air out of first?

got water coming out of both bleeder valves after the car has been warmed up and shut off. After it cools do i need to open radiator cap to check level or just keep recovery tank at proper level?

My concerns being the car ran hot and thats when the problems began... lol. I've pulled the heads off the block had to replace the rocker arm threads in the head because they pulled out. i replaced all gaskets, new thermostat. When the heads were off, they went to a machine shop to have the holes re drilled and re threaded, along with pressure and vacuum test which came back fine. The bottom side of the head was shaved so it would have a better seal to the head gasket. That is all the work i remember doing. I havent messed with this car in 2 years because of the aggervation. just noticed last time after letting the car get to normal temp and i shut it off to open the bleeder valves there was bubbles coming from holding tank.
