ok so i installed a new engine coolant sensor and the car wasnt overheating or anything before. but as soon as i start up the car the temperature gauge in the dash reads like halfway about 2 min into idling. then 5 minutes later its already in the red but the engine inst even warmed up yet. so i drive it down the road to make sure the thermostat opens (195) and it does because both of the hoses are hot, but the temp gauage still reads in the red. I thought it might be the sensor so i went and got another won but still same thing. what the hell is going on here, its not that hard just unscrew and plug in. i got the sensor from advance auto parts and i made sure they gave me the right one.

please this **** is gay i dont like seeing my temperature gauge in the red when its really not. HELP

woah buddy, I may be but half retarded, but not a full on retard.

Go get another sensor and see if it does the same thing, if it does you got antoher problem. As in the the cluster is ****ed up or the pcm is getting a ****ty ass signal or there is a wire borke somewhere.

i think it may be that you have a low level of blinker fluid.
    i've seen this happen before.

Blinker Fluid [BF-01] - $8.99 : KaleCoAuto, Hard to find automotive items!

    that should remedy your problems.

Blinker fluid?? Haha how the he'll is thT gonna fix this, haha yeah right. Im gonna try n put the other one back on n see if it is doing the same thing but I replaced it because my cooling fans aren't coming on till it was at like 245 so I thought that might be the reason

K just put the other sensor back on and it is readin accurate again, t stat opens at 195 and cooling fans come on at like 220, Do not buy the cheapest engine coolant temp sensor from advanc, I went through two of them and neither one is calibrated correctly or something because even before the t stat would open it was already reading 250, so do not buy it, it's ****ing junk

What brand was the cheap one you bought?

I would always go for delco when it's an option.
