The crank pulley on my 3.1 engine 2000 grand prix appears to have moved outward by abbout half an inch. Consequently, the serpentine belt is positioned over the edge of the pulley and it is being repped apart. I checked by hand to see if the pulley was loose but I could not move it. I have had the problem for the past 1.5 years and it has become progressively worse. Any help/information would be appreciated. Thanks

well, if you already didnt fix it, the crank pulley/harmonic pulley needs to be changed quickly.. I had a squeal in my belt and found the pulley wobbly, turns out, it came apart, away from home. The ballancer/pulley is a 2 part pulley, with a rubber membrane in between the two. New one is anout $200, I found a used 0nein a donar car for 50.
pull the rf wheel off, then the inner plastic wheel well. I used an impact gun to undo pulley bolt, and a 3 prong gear puller to work it off the crank shaft. When installing the new one, using a wooden block, pound the pulley so iys flush with outer crankshaft.do not use a impact or such to force the pulley back on the shaft...once pulley is in place , torque to the propper specs..
    hope this helps...

Thanks for your input. You are bang on with your trouble shooting of the problem. Unfortunately, I had to take the car in and had it done at the shop. I wish I had received your feeback earlier beacuse I could have done the job myself following the steps you listed. Thanks again. I hope the info you provided will come handy for other grand prix owners.
