My girlfriends 99 has been acting very weird lately...it has been intermittently shaking in the front end then stopping..she's driven it for 3 days with no problems and it did it again today....but on her way home it started doing it while she was going about 60 and the speedometer started going down even though she wasn't slowing down at all she also said it got very hard to steer and it feels kinda like her front tires arre flat when it does this....I'm thinking its probly some kind of sensor...I first thought it was something in the suspension or a cv axle or bearing...but now I don't know what to think of it

To me it almost sounds like its cutting out. Like power is cutting out and the car is shutting off and coming back on quickly. It shutting off would make it hard to steer because the accessory belt isn't spinning like it should.

Brake caliper hanging up can cause a bad vibration. Wife van did it to her twice days apart. The second time I was home and the one wheel was really hot and there was a bad brake smell.

I've never heard of a caliper hanging and making the car jerk, or vibrate. I've had calipers hang before and all it did was slow me down.

i dont kno if the rpms went down or not because she was driving....she said she didn't notice...I've been driving it when it does this but not as bad as it did it today...its got 196k on it and basically nothing has been replaced...is there any sensor that may be causing this?

It could be plugs and wires, faulty coil pack, leaky injector etc.

Friend of mine had a car with the 3.4 and it misfired like crazy. I never got to look deep into it to see what the problem was.

No, I had a 94 escort station wagon and a caliper was hung, shook like hell.
Rebuild the caliper, all was well.
