    I have a 95 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1L V6 137k miles.

    Ok, the 1st misc.

I was looking at this topic:http://www.grandprixforums.net/how-h...1-a-25081.html

I'm trying to access my thermostat, however like was mentioned in that topic, the crossover pipe is in my way. Now I'm not tech savvy so I had my dad help me with this last time. He made some weird wrench/plier combo to unscrew the bolt on the gooseneck. However getting said bolts back on was insanely difficult. Small, small turns. There has to be an easier way to access this thing. I figured if I removed the throttle(the thing that revs your car if you pull it(if that's even the throttle)) then I'd have a much easier time getting to that bolt.

Now the repair, I think I have a blown head gasket, a cracked head, or a bad intake gasket. My car fluxes in temperature for awhile now, a few weeks ago it was OH all the time within 5 minutes and I'd have to pull over.

I've also been losing coolant for awhile now, with no visible leaks anywhere on the ground. I took it to the mechanics and it would not OH for them. They checked the compression and said it had a small air pocket in there but nothing to cause a massive OH like I was getting.

2 weeks later, aka 3 days ago, the temp is fluxing like mad again. Up to the middle of the gauge and then back down to near cold. I got home from work and checked my oil stick and it's milky white. Also under the cap some liquid dripped off and inside there it was white and gunky.

I assume something must have finally broke, because that wasn't like that a couple days prior. Also the coolant has turned kinda dark so I think oil may be in the resevoir now. I haven't driven the car since I discovered the milk oil.

Now the reason I asked the misc. question was because I do not have the money right now to have a head gasket repaired or especially a head replaced. So I was thinking about trying this Blue Devil Head Gasket sealant. I know it's not a permanent fix like it says but it'd help me out till I can raise the money for a real fix.

If it matters, I've never used Dex-Cool. I usually use the Prestone 50/50 mix. My Tstat question was because the Blue Devil requires the Tstat to be removed before adding it.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Oh also, I have a Hayne's manual, but like the topic linked above said, it doesn't have good pics. In fact it used a 3.4 engine, which is of no use to me. I wish it were THAT easy.

Sorry for the long post. I figured I'd give all the details I could.

i'm not too familiar with the 3.1s but sounds like you blew the head gasket.

save the 10 bucks from the gasket sealer and put it toward new head/intake gaskets and get down and dirty. you can find any diagram you need by googling. make sure your cooling system is bled when you finish, too.

    97 GT - slow, rusty
93 CTD - more slow, less rust

Did I mention I'm not tech savvy? Besides that, like I said I don't have the money for any repairs right now. That's why I was wanting to use the gasket sealant. That way I can at least be able to drive my car to/from work while I save up the money.
