i have a 2000 gp se and its been acting up lately. usually after driving my car for 15+ minutes the engine starts to make a whining sound kinda like a supercharger does. at first i thought it was transmission but the sound gets worse as i accelerate and remains even if i put the car in park. I checked to see if the car was throwing any codes to help me out and turns out my Tp sensor might need to be replaced. tp sensor taking a **** makes sense to some of my other problems on the car but would it also cause that whine in the engine? the whine seems to come more from the drivers side of the car when i look under the hood.

i can see how it could be the power steering pump but the noise is coming from the other side of the car more towards the throttle body

A whine from the driverside can be a few things. Frequently though if it appears to be connected to rpm, it's something with the trans pump. Give the fluid a check and make sure things are up to speed there.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
