We just got this 96 GP running today (engine swap runs great) but it has some electrical issues. Relays check fine. The fans work if you do the relay paperclip trick. It has a new coolant temp switch. Also the air conditioner is not engaging the clutch, no current through the harness. The ECM isn't providing a necessary ground to the relays to kick the fans on.

I was careful on marking every harness connection, I'm really puzzled. What's wrong with this thing?

I installed a toggle switch to the relay. Ebay had a good used ECM so we will give that a try.

I was reading this post and have the same issue with my 95 3.1L SE . Did you ever fix it ? I was thinking a low pressure switch for the A/C but I can't seem to find one. Well any help would be greatly Appreciated.

I purchased an adjustable switch that I installed to the relay. This provides a ground to trigger the relay. Flex A Lite was the brand. I know this is not the correct solution to fixing the problem but I have other things I have to get done. I will figure it out later. Oh I installed a different ECM that made no difference.

If you figure your problem out please let me know. Thanks.........Chuck

try checking legs number 85 & 86 on the box (not on the relay) if they got 12V when the engine is hot. (one of them is ground and the other is 12V, so you can check it with a multimeter to find which is grounded and which is connected to the computer).
if you don`t get the 12V on none of them, or one of them isn`t grounded, check the wires all the way from the box for electrical continuity.
let us know what you find.

    p.s.
    here`s a typical relay layout: http://www.rowand.net/shop/tech/imag...iringGuide.jpg

sounds like a bad ground.... your best bet is to look for a wiring diagram and find out where the ground is.

Hey Viper got a question It seems you know a lot about cars. Is it possible to replace a center console out of a car that has a hand brake spot in the center console?

You can but its alot of work. Post a thread on it asking how to do it. This isnt exactly the place, go to the brakes section and ask how to relocate it.
