I'm in the process of having my engine swapped from my 97 Monte Carlo to a 2000 Grand Prix SE. Is there anything I should be aware of between these two 3100 60* V6 Engines, aside from replacing the gaskets, etc while the endgine is out?

    Thanks,
    StreetChariot

Sounds good. The top end is going to be cleaned, and all of the gaskets (VC's, HD, LIM, EM) will be replaced. I'm also going to have the oil pump checked and have any debris cleared. The Monte had 136,000 miles on it, and I purchased it in '04 with 77,000 miles on it, so I drove it quite a bit. Oil changed every 2,500 miles, tranny fluid every 6-12 months as money would allow. Engine has been a blessing aside from the occasional random cylinder misfire/multiple cylinder misfire condition after a heavy rain or humid day.... But that is under control now.

I only had 5 more payments until the Monte was paid off. It was in perfect condition inside and out, no rust, waxed, washed, etc. I was rear ended at a stop light coming off of the freeway by someone who forgot that there was a traffic light... Her speed was in excess of 50+ miles per hour. Needless to say, the car was toast. The back fender wells bent up into the rear wheels so badly that the wheels refused to turn. The most strange thing was that the trunk and trunk frame remained right where they were supposed to be, but the left and right fenders creased at the middle of the wheel well, and they had about a 2 1/2 inch dip compared to the trunk lid.

But the Monte Carlo will live on (hopefully for a long time) in this '00 GP SE that my parents happened to have sitting dead in their driveway. I was suprised to find that it had the same engine as my beloved MC. I picked it up for free, and the insurance company agreed to pay off the MC to the penny, even with me keeping it (I gave up 250$ extra to keep it). So I guess I cannot complain.

I'll let everyone know how it goes... I may even try to polish up my valve covers and Intake Manifold a bit before I take some pictures to post on here.

    Thanks,
    StreetChariot

Should be a very straight forward swap. Not overly familiar with the 3100, even though the wife has one in her malibu. But just use the wiring harness and all the sensors from the GP, just to make sure everything stays the same. But shouldn't have any issue. Oh, and consider changing the oil pan gasket while you have it out. Should be much easier.
