I had a friend of the family do some work on my grand prix (1996 3.1 SE) about one month ago. He changed the intake gaskets and the manifold had a crack in it so it was replaced. He also changed the spark plugs while he was in there.

It ran a lot rougher after the work was done and idled very roughly. Never stalled out although it felt/sounded like it would.

While driving today the SES light began blinking and there was a ticking noise under the hood. The rough idle continued. A neighbor who has more automotive knowledge than myself looked at it and made a blind claim that the cylinder seemed to be misfiring which causes the SES light to blink.

My question is whether or not the previous work done to it a month ago could cause this to happen? If it is indeed the cylinder misfiring, how much will a repair cost me? **I will take it tomorrow to read the codes but i wanted to get some preliminary ideas from this group!

Thanks all
