I recently purchased an 02 GP GTP and as far as I know the trans fluid and filter has never been changed. I do however know the pan needs to be pulled and have a new gasket put on it, it's leaking. I know it's an age old debate about flushing a transmission with high miles, but how about a fluid and filter change for these transmissions at the low range of high miles?

if the fluid is still red and dont smell burnt have at it. just a pan drop, dont flush it.

see if the pan bolts are loose, that maybe why its leaking.

if you dont have a thick gasket @ the pan, its not stock anymore. stock one is re usable. new ones are thin and suck. so it may have been replaced at some point.

If you change your mind about changing the fluid and filter, put a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix in it to help slow the leak and prevent further damage.
