My dirt track car spit a passengers axle out, and messed up the splines inside that I can't get a new axle to go in, so looks like i'm going to have to replace the diff. I have never done this before and tried looking online for the step by step process to change it, but can't find anything, can anyone tell me what to expect or post a step by step instructions, I don't know **** when it comes to fwd cars. Also can I replace it from one from a gt around the same year, or does it have to be from a supercharge car? And is it just a swap in and go? Thanks in advance for any info.

Needs to be from another GTP car, or one with the same gear ratio.

The axles on the passenger side are different length for GT and GTP cars and the final drive raito is different, GT being 3.29 and GTP 2.93.

I don't know exactly what to do for the swap, but I know it can be done in car.

Jack passenger end higher than driver and or drain fluid. Me..I'd jack it up and deal with whatever came out when I pulled the diff cover.
    Pop the balljoint
Pull the axle (Seems like you have this already done)
Remove the trans to engine bracket (4 13mm bolts)

Remove two more 13mm bolts holding the diff cover on

Now you'll be looking at the diff. A medium to large screwdriver should get placed between the diff pin and the shaft that runs across to the other axle. Smack with a hammer and the shaft should push backwards and your diff is in your hands.

If when you put things back together ... you can't hold the cover flush with just your hands, then you have to pull it again, right behind the diff is the parking gear, slide that out. Behind that is a bearing. If that parking gear slid forward..that bearing falls and makes things not fit. Use a dab of grease to hold the bearing to the parking gear and reassemble.

Tip.. when putting it all back together have a buddy pull the driverside CV toward the tire for you to put it together, or if working alone, pop the drivers BJ as well and slide that axle out about 2 inches. Once you complete putting the diff together, then pop that back in and seat it into the diff.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
