The forward apply band broke on my 01 GTP stock tranny. Got a bone yard tranny with 3 month warranty. Swapped it in, including the shift kit from my original trans (swapped out whole accumulator body) Put new gasket, and filter in. Upon re-assembly, one of my PRJ spark plug boots cracked when I was pushing it on. To get me by, I taped it up tight and put it on. Also, I think one of my dog bone square rubbers is now torn from the tention on it while the motor was being held up with the cherry picker as trans was dropped out bottom.
When I start the car, sometimes I get a bad vibration, other times its fine. I usually get a bad vibration once I put it into R. The tranny slips when put into D. The common "slip / slam" I have been reading about on here. If I let off a little bit, then re apply throttle, it will grab. Also, even from 40+ mph, if I floor it, the transmission slipps and the engine just redlines. The car still has plenty of power though, given 75% throttle, it will throw you back in the seat and speed up very quickly (normal). I used the converter that came with the new tranny. (Tipped on side and drained fluid out, then re-filled before installation). I was told the new transmission was from a GTP, but if it did happen to be from a GT, could that cause any of these issues? Could it be the converter slipping? I have a desert fox tranny cooler. So far I have put 9 quarts of fluid in. Dipstick still seems to read below the hash marks when checking in Park with a warm trans. Is this normal?
