1999 GTP with a loud bearing whine in park and nuetral. What bearing causes this and how difficult of a fix is it?

If it makes it in Park and Neutral and not in any gear range while sitting at a stopped position then it is likely the stator support/drive sprocket bearing and possibly even a worn and damaged drive chain sprocket. Replacing it is quite a bit of work and requires dropping down the trans and removing the side cover, pump, valve body, channel plate, chain and sprockets and at that point you have access to removing the bearing but with the trans still in the car it is difficult because the input shaft is in the way to get a lot of access to the bearing and it requires a special tool or a lot of creativity to do in the car.
Yes it makes a loud whine in park and neutral at a stand still and the whine follows engine speed when driving down the road in any gear range. When you shift into drive at a stand still the noise stops. Definitely sounds like it follows input speed.
