Swapping out transmissions in a 98 GT. If I have the capability to remove engine and trans, would that be preferable to just removing trans? I know in some vehicles it is easier to remove the entire package instead of just the trans.

    Thanks for the info!

Really a matter of preference for most people. I would personally just remove the tranny. Other find it easier to remove the engine and tranny together.

I would much rather remove the trans only. That way you don't have to unhook anything to do with the motor. Now, if you are going to do some work to the motor, than I would say pull it as well, I would think it would be much easier to do a cam or rockers, or anything like that with the motor out, IMO. Dont worry about the ***** bolt, just get a very long extension and you can get right to it.

i'd say just remove the tranny, its way easier.

Street Wolf, TubbedGTP, and I removed mine by supporting the vehicle on jack stands raised up high, supporting the engine with a cherry picker, removing the subframe, and taking out the tranny with jacks. Worked good IMO...
