Just got home from work with my roll pin kit. I'm confused by this whole thing. Can I pull the diff out without taking the other axel out? And it's still leaking. I cleaned it off perfectly. If the o ring has a little cracked will it still leak? I heard harbor freight sells crap.. should I not buy a hydraulic jack from there?
Wow! The 1.5 rapid aluminum low pro is 89.99
Anyone know what size pin it is?

Mod things that I grab I just need for the time being so it's not something I'll use everyday.. So cheap is fine. I didn't use this tools for work on anything so I don't need to best of the best. Plus they usually return/exchange things without a hassle.
I have the 3 ton low pro one and had it for awhile... I use it pretty frequent and this sucker is a beast. A lifesaver for a low vehicle. I didn't get the racing aluminum version because it seemed kind of flimsy
To remove the diff off the output shaft, you take a med/large flat screwdriver and put it between the pin and output shaft (shaft in trans side opposite where the passenger axle would be). Give it a couple of quick smacks with a hammer and the compression clip will let it loose. Wiggle it out and set it aside. Now remove the next piece that looks like a large toothed gear, and the bearing behind it. Goop the bearing back into the channel and put the piece back in. Now you won't have to worry about breaking the cover when you put things back in.
Work over your diff and off you go.
Thanks Bill I'm about to get started on this. You saved me big time. I owe you.
I dunno that I did. Usually it's a diff cover, diff and tow when it explodes, and we still haven't fixed the leak.
But how do i remove the pin from the diff
id see about a new cover, you got a few bright spider cracked areas that maybe the leak. maybe prop the case up so you can fill it with some used tranny fluid and see if it leaks before you put it back on. turn the case over every 15 minutes or so and look for a leak.
I'm Def just gonna go get a cover from the yard when i have a day off work. I wish i could just use the cover from the non hd trans.
thanks for everything
Well on my way to work the car would shake back and forth under very light acceleration. Until I got to 10mph
Does anyone know why I hear a loud clunk when I go from park into reverse and drive?
Did you have said clunk before?
Are your Cv's sloppy?
What did you end up doing ...new roll pin and new cover?
I did not have this clunk before. I replaced roll pin and did not replace the cover yet. Low on cash.. but I had someone brake torque it in reverse and drive and I would watch the cv from top with the hood open. It looks like the axel turns a little. And the engine moves a lot
