Will be swapping in a rebuilt 4T65E over Xmas break.

There's already 1 qt of Dexron 6 in the 245mm reman TC. How much more at minimum should I have on hand to be sure to get the rest of the dry trans filled?

Ive seen varying information on a dry fill total, usually ranging between 12 - 14 quarts.

By the way, did you finish posting up all your progress work on the Bonneville Forums? If so, can you send me the link, I was tracking that pretty closely and then it seemed to go dead.

Well it did go into hibernation, in that I finished the trans in July but am just now getting around to installing it

Been limping along since then with some rod knock (which just went to Defcon 5) and increasingly bad slippage, just waiting for some time off to install my:

    Rebuilt 4T65E:

    and L26/M90:

Will be sure to have another 13-14 qts Dex 6 on hand for fill.

You dude, are simply my hero, LOL. When you do work you do some awesome documentation of what you are doing and that is great stuff. Thank you for linking to that for me.

And in turn, TrannyMan is my hero; could not have done that as well--or as cheaply--without his advice and services.

Reading those threads, I have to bring something up:

An 04 L26 I recently picked up from an Impala had the standard metal pan with standard windage tray gasket.
The 04 Impala had the L36/L26 hybrid engine. It was technically a L36 with a L26 block, crank, pistons, rods, valve train, and heads. The UIM, TB, LIM, fuel rail, electronics, oil pan, water pump, etc would be identical to the L36s.

I may know a thing or to about that specific year L36.
2004 Impala LS - got some mods sold!!!
