Do you have the gear selector on top of the trans lined up w/ the shifter?

Yeah. When its in park the selector is all the way towards the firewall. It actually accelerates in neutral.... it feels like it wants to go in reverse when I give it enough gas but then it completely stops when I let go of the gas

Hmm, I wonder if the wiring to the trans is tight? I know you said the selector at the trans was towards the firewall while in park, but have you disconnected the cable from it and tried to manually move the lever on the black box further towards the firewall? It just sounds like its off somehow.
